FLOWGUARD GOLD® CPVC PLUMBING SYSTEM INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO AVAILABLE FOR INSTALLING JOINTS UNDER CONCRETE SLAB
Solvent Weld Joint Is Stronger than Either the Pipe or Fitting Alone
CLEVELAND - A comprehensive installation video for joints underslab applications is now available from the makers of FlowGuard Gold® CPVC. This video helps simplify the installation of plumbing joints under concrete slab and provides guidelines for specifying FlowGuard Gold CPVC pipe and fittings in underslab applications.
Installing piping systems under concrete slab introduces a number of challenges not associated with plumbing in other parts of a building. Selection of proper materials is critical since repairing or replacing an existing underslab piping system is costly and inconvenient.
Metallic systems are prone to pitting, scaling and corrosion. In addition, metallic systems present a high risk of potential failure — even when installed properly — making an underslab installation an even more risky project. When subjected to aggressive water or soil conditions, leaks and premature failures may occur, increasing the likelihood of a difficult and costly repair.
The FlowGuard Gold CPVC Pipe and Fittings Underslab Installation Video highlights the corrosion-free technology behind the product, which is backed by more than 45 years of proven superior performance over metallic systems. Because of the reliability of the joining system of a FlowGuard Gold system, and since it cannot pit, scale or corrode, these issues are not a concern when installing a FlowGuard Gold system with joints under a concrete slab. This proven system is more durable than metal, resulting in reduced maintenance and fewer repairs.
The installation video demonstrates the ease and speed with which FlowGuard Gold CPVC pipe and fittings can be fabricated and installed under slab using only simple hand tools. Because of the design and installation flexibility of a FlowGuard Gold CPVC system, alterations can be made on site where the pipe will be installed.
The video additionally offers step-by-step assembly instructions using the quick, one-step solvent cement bonding system. A dramatically shortened cure time is one of the advantages of FlowGuard Gold one-step solvent cement. For pipe and fittings sizes up to 1¼ inch, cure times can be as short as ten minutes for a 100 psi test. Another advantage of a solvent cement joint is that no torches are required. The fact that the torch has been taken off the job is an appealing safety advantage for professionals. The solvent cement process welds the pipe and fitting together forming a permanent molecular bond that is stronger than the pipe or fitting alone.
Finally, the video demonstrates how an entire FlowGuard Gold CPVC plumbing system can be assembled with confidence in a fraction of the time required by metallic systems.
Highlighting the combined benefits of ease of installation and superior corrosion resistance, the new under slab instructional video provides a valuable tool for completing a complex installation project.
