UPC REVISED TO PERMIT USE OF FLOWGUARD GOLD® CPVC
ONE-STEP SOLVENT CEMENT

Elimination of primer requirement makes for faster installations

CLEVELAND -- The 2003 edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) permits the use of yellow one-step solvent cement for joining CPVC plumbing systems manufactured in accordance with ASTM D2846 (1/2” through 2”). Previously, the UPC mandated a two step cementing process that required the use of a primer when installing any CPVC plumbing system. The revisions to Chapter 3 of the Code allows the installation of FlowGuard Gold® pipe and fittings using yellow FlowGuard Gold® one-step solvent cement.

The FlowGuard Gold® one-step solvent cement, which has been approved for use by other building codes for many years, makes installing FlowGuard Gold® CPVC plumbing systems faster and easier to help reduce overall labor costs.

FlowGuard Gold® one-step cement creates a chemical bond between the pipe and fittings that results in consistently reliable joints that are actually stronger than either the pipe or fitting alone. A plumbing system joined with FlowGuard Gold® one-step cement can be pressure tested in as little as ten minutes after assembly. No special tools are required for installation.

Always refer to the manufacturers’ installation guide prior to installing a plumbing system using FlowGuard Gold® one-step cement. For more information about FlowGuard Gold® one-step cement or FlowGuard Gold® CPVC pipe and fittings, visit www.flowguardgold.com or call 888/234-2436, X7393.
