The interactive CD ROM provides system designers with a detailed overview of FlowGuard Gold CPVC pipe and fittings and the performance characteristics of the specialty plastic — known chemically as chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) — that is used to make them. Included are case studies profiling actual field applications by some of the country’s leading builders that demonstrate the more than 45 years of proven successful service history of CPVC.
Users are provided with live streaming video of authentic product demonstrations highlighting the superior performance characteristics of FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings. Video clips illustrate the natural ability of this thermoplastic to reduce condensation, as well as physical performance tests for fixed drop impact, fire performance properties and hydrostatic quick burst tests.
The core module of the interactive resource CD ROM is a comprehensive design and installation manual that provides a complete reference guide containing design data and technical and performance information. Included are design “Dos” and “Don’ts” for FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings, which are available in copper tube sizes (CTS) from ˝" to 2". Users will also find useful sample specifications for FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings and its sister product, Corzan® CPVC pipe and fittings. For applications requiring pipe and fittings larger than 2", FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings may be transitioned to Corzan pipe and fittings, available in iron pipe sizes (IPS) up to 16" in diameter.
The design and specification module addresses mechanical considerations for specifying FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings, including:
· Hydraulic Design — sizing, design velocity, Hazen-Williams C Factor and head-loss characteristics of the pipe, valves and fittings.
· Thermal Expansion and Contraction — required allowances for the expansion and contraction associated with the heating and cooling of the pipe.
· Joining Pipe and Fittings — cutting, deburring/beveling, fitting preparation, solvent cement application, assembly and cure times for forming chemical bonds.
· Hangers and Supports — types and appropriate spacing of hangers and supports for horizontal and vertical piping.
Also included in the design and specification module are technical and test reports. The technical reports examine nationwide trends and issues affecting plumbing systems and the performance of competitive materials under various conditions. Test reports provide data extracted from stringent FlowGuard Gold product quality testing.
To further assist designers with specifying FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings, the interactive CD ROM features a section dedicated to products and programs that are complementary to the system and installation process. Included are the SlabGuard® Bender System for underslab installations and one-step solvent CPVC cement.
The custom CD ROM also provides users with links to the websites of each of the exclusive, quality manufacturers for FlowGuard Gold and Corzan pipe and fittings throughout the country.
