INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO ASSISTS IN THE DESIGN OF COMMERCIAL CPVC WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS

Educational Tool Provides Guidelines for Integrating CPVC Pipe Systems

to Meet High-Rise Demands

CLEVELAND - A comprehensive installation video for high-rise applications is now available from the makers of FlowGuard Gold® CPVC.  This video assists plumbing professionals in the proper installation techniques of this advanced water distribution system in commercial applications.

FlowGuard Gold CPVC piping systems by Noveon are becoming the clear choice for professionals in the plumbing and building trades, as well as design engineers and building owners, who are concerned about water purity and the durability of their plumbing systems.  For more than 45 years, Noveon technology has created many CPVC materials for industrial process piping, fire protection and domestic water distribution applications for use in commercial and residential markets.

The installation video examines product specifications, installation requirements and available pipe sizes.  FlowGuard Gold pipe is currently available in up to 2" copper tube size (CTS).  For installations that require larger sizes, Corzan® CPVC pipe and fittings are available in iron pipe sizes (IPS) up to 16" diameter.  And, just like FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings, Corzan pipe and fittings are certified by NSF International for use in potable water applications and meet all model code requirements.

The video discusses the use of special solvent weld bushings and couplings that allow designers to transition between the two products to install a corrosion-resistant, non-metallic system throughout any size building.  Instructions are also given for proper transition from existing metallic systems to the CPVC system.

Unlike metallic systems, Noveon’s family of CPVC products utilizes a solvent cement bonding system rather than lead solder.  A one-step solvent cementing process (no primer required) is recommended for use with FlowGuard Gold pipe and fittings.  A two-step solvent cement process is recommended for use with the larger diameter Corzan pipe.  (The installer should always verify local code requirements prior to installation.)

Additionally, the training video provides recommendations for hanging each of the systems to ensure that all vertical and horizontal piping receives adequate spacing and proper support, resulting in a quiet, trouble-free installation.
