FlowGuard Gold CPVC Pipe and Fittings

Features & Benefits

Test Video

Purpose

To demonstrate the effect of the low coefficient of thermal conductivity of FlowGuard GoldŽ CPVC pipe and fittings as compared to copper and its effect on the formation of condensation.

Video Demonstration

A section of FlowGuard Gold pipe is mounted opposite a section of copper pipe. Cold water (50°F/10°C) from the same source flows through both sections of pipe. Condensation forms on the copper pipe but not on the FlowGuard Gold pipe. The outside surface temperature is measured on both pieces of pipe.

Results

The FlowGuard Gold CPVC system demonstrates superior insulative properties compared to copper. The outside surface temperature of the FlowGuard Gold pipe remains close to room temperature while the outside surface temperature of the copper pipe is significantly lower. Since the outside surface temperature of the copper pipe is significantly lower than that of the FlowGuard Gold pipe, condensation forms more readily on the copper pipe. Under most conditions that cause copper pipe to sweat and drip, FlowGuard Gold pipe will remain free of condensation.
