Purpose
To demonstrate the superior burst strength of FlowGuard GoldŽ pipe with a solvent cemented fitting.
Video Demonstration
A 3/4" FlowGuard Gold pipe and fitting sample is place under pressure. Water is pumped into the sample at a rate of 25 psi per second until the assembly bursts. The time of the test and the pressure rating is recorded during the test.
Test Method ASTM D1599
- Purpose: Measures burst strength of the pipe and fitting assembly
- Criteria: Pipe and fitting assemblies are filled with water and pressure is increased at a specified rate until burst
Results
The FlowGuard Gold pipe and fitting assembly bursts at 1709 psi in 71.1 seconds. The burst occurs in the pipe and not at the solvent cemented fitting. The solvent cemented joint is stronger than the pipe or fitting alone.
